Founded in 1998 by Interbanca S.p.A., Iniziativa Gestione Investimenti SGR S.p.A. (IGI) is an authorized intermediary supervised by the Bank of Italy and entered in the Register of Asset Management Companies (no. 17).

From inception to the exit of Interbanca in 2006, IGI raised and managed two private equity funds: IGI Investimenti and IGI Investimenti Due.

In 2006 IGI raised the fund IGI Investimenti Quattro and in 2013, following the acquisition of Arca Impresa Gestioni SGR S.p.A., it took over the management of two further funds, IGI Investimenti Cinque (formerly Arca Impresa Tre) and IGI Investimenti Cinque Parallel (formerly Arca Impresa Tre Parallel).

In 2018 the fund IGI Investimenti Sei was launched with the target of raising € 150 million.  In March 2020 the Final Closing was completed with subscriptions totaling € 170 million, surpassing the original target.

Today IGI has 4 active funds with over € 250 million of assets under management.
